Abstract:

The physical lockdowns implemented by the government in response to the coronavirus pandemic have had an effect on the construction sector of the economy and resulted in a decrease in the volume of cement movement/withdrawal from Solid Cement Corporation (S.C.C.). In response, the logistics department of S.C.C. implemented its measures to facilitate the management and distribution of their finished goods, aiming to maximize the volume of finished goods distributed throughout the country with the limited resources and restricted movement caused by the country’s lockdowns.

This study attempted to verify the effectiveness of the response implemented by the company through its logistics department. Furthermore, the study documented best practices in the business processes that include the management of finished goods, particularly in the country’s cement industry.

Covid-19 significantly affected the cement industry, especially one of the pioneers in the Philippines, Solid Cement Corporation. The results of the T-test revealed a significant decrease in the movement of cement due to the pandemic. The company had made a response to the problem in logistics and supply chain. On average, employees and clients think that the company has effectively improved the ordering process, added convenience in pick-up transactions and requisition of cement, and increased cement movement throughout the country. The increase in cement movement is due to the logistics department’s integrated and improved to respond to the pandemic’s challenges.
