Abstract:

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, mental health experts and psychologists have consistently suggested that a global pandemic of novel coronavirus outbreaks could have a “profound impact” on people’s mental health. Outbreak of the new champions league completely change the way of life, people all over the world because of the outbreak spread terror raged, bring to people’s influence is must keep certain “social distance” and the mood of anxiety, in one of the most serious epidemic periods, people even have to choose “isolated”, it has serious impact to the public. In China, during the COVID-19 outbreak, home quarantine measures were implemented nationwide due to the high infectivity of the novel coronavirus. While staying at home has reduced people’s chances of contracting COVID-19 and effectively stopped the spread of the disease, COVID-19 can still have a psychological impact on people.

It has to be said that these one to two years, the national mentality has suffered no small devastation, the epidemic brought economic downturn, unemployment, some industries of the cliff slide, have cast a layer of shadow on people’s psychology. There is plenty of evidence that economic downturns lead to an increased risk of mental illness, self-harm and suicide. Experience from previous periods of economic stress tells us that suicide risks are higher for men and young people. Mitigating the economic damage to individuals, families and communities is therefore particularly important during the pandemic.

In addition, the outbreak is taking a serious toll on the mental health of frontline and key workers. This includes medical, health, and nursing staff, but also firefighters, police, transport drivers, and all the other roles that are essential to the maintenance of daily life. When dealing with COVID-19, some medical staff may occasionally have a startled reaction due to excessive stress and increased alertness. Some medical staff may even experience excessive protection, such as repeated hand washing and disinfection. Front-line medical staff wear protective clothing for a long time, resulting in inconvenient operation and poor quality of execution. As a result, their sense of frustration is higher than usual, resulting in varying degrees of psychological stress response. In addition, there are some front-line medical personnel who fight continuously and overdraw their bodies. Long-term sleep deprivation will cause emotional exhaustion, that is, emotional exhaustion, excessive consumption of individual emotional resources, fatigue and loss of energy. The lack of effective ways to relieve stress is bound to exacerbate mental health problems.

In light of the backdrop based on the epidemic situation in the presence of the public policy under the influence of psychological problems and psychological counseling needs, we will analyze the Chinese public health policy for comprehensive assessment of the influence of mental health, and put forward concrete and effective measures of psychological counseling and policy recommendations.
