Abstract:

This study employed a qualitative research method with the participation of thirty-four (34) students out of the seventy-five (75) students from Naval Officers’ Basic Course (NOBC); 1st Quarter Training Program CY 2022, and Philippine Navy (PN) Instructors/Administrators. The NOBC students’ experiences of the online learning system were surfaced. Specifically, NOBC students described the challenges they encountered and the coping strategies they employed to survive their classes. Based on the findings, with the abrupt adoption of online learning, students had a firsthand experience with completely independent and self-directed learning. Students also adapt to the new learning style while still receiving learning and education in the classic face-to-face manner. However, they are most concerned with access to resources and forms of communication online. Thus, improvements in terms of curriculum enrichment, teacher trainer qualification, infrastructure development and learning environment concerns were proposed.
