On September 7, 2024, NCAA Season 100 officially kicked off at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, with LPU Manila serving as the host for this centennial season. The celebration embraced the season’s theme, “Siglo Uno: Inspiring Legacies.”

The atmosphere was electric as Justin from SB19 delivered a heart-stopping performance, energizing the crowd and setting the tone for an unforgettable season. P-pop girl group G22 performed the new #NCAA100 theme song, “Own the Future.”

Kharla Maghalso, Ms. LPU 2023, led the opening prayer, while the LPU Chorale performed the Philippine National Anthem. The traditional parade of schools followed, with each university proudly showcasing its athletes in a vibrant display of creativity and school spirit. 

LPU Manila President and NCAA Season 100 Policy Board President, Atty. Roberto P. Laurel, along with Secretary of Education Sen. Sonny Angara, delivered inspiring speeches, highlighting the significance of this milestone season and the role of sports in fostering unity and excellence.

To further commemorate the occasion, ten notable athletes were honored for their exceptional contributions to NCAA sports. Following this, LPU Pirates’ team captain, Greg Cunanan, led the Oath of Sportsmanship, serving as a reminder for athletes to uphold respect, fair play, and integrity throughout the season’s competitions.

The opening ceremony culminated with a grand, Filipino-themed production performance by Lyceum of the Philippines University, showcasing the artistic talents of LPU Manila’s performing organizations, including the LPU Pep Squad, LPU Dance Troupe, LPU Wildstyle Crew, LPU Tanghalang Batingaw, and LPU Drumsquad. This powerful presentation, rich in Filipino culture and pride, was further enhanced by select representatives from other NCAA schools. Together, they delivered a dynamic and culturally resonant performance, echoing the NCAA’s century-long tradition of sportsmanship and excellence, and bringing a spectacular and meaningful close.

The opening day of this centennial season was a resounding success, marking the start of what promises to be a remarkable and fiercely competitive season. NCAA Season 100 is poised to deliver some of the most intense matchups in its storied history.
