CAS Program Offerings

Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting

Broadcasting, in essence, is the transmission of message, programs, or content through the traditional media of radio and television. However, the pervasiveness of technology in communication and generally in the lives of people has drastically changed broadcasting as a practice, profession, or field of study. Whereas in the past, programming or broadcast content could only be transmitted through the airwaves channeled through broadcast organizations, broadcasting is now possible through new and emerging media powered by the internet and mobile technology. Programming, production, and broadcast performance are no longer solely in the hands of traditional media practitioners because anyone with internet-enabled gadgetry can produce and publish content anytime.

This program seeks to enable students to be informed and responsible future broadcasters by studying theories, analyzing communication trends, writing and producing content from well thought-out concepts, learning and honing skills in production, editing and on-cam performance, and developing communication planning and management skills in production and programming.
