Waves of Wellness: Fostering Clean Water and Providing Sanitation Materials
On March 26, 2024, the SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation Ambassador of LPU Manila, Ms. Angel Louann C. Cortel implemented the SDG 6 Project entitled, “Waves of Wellness” in Pangasinan. This project is in Partnership with Don Vergara Elementary School. This project aims to increase awareness among students about the importance of clean water and proper sanitation, fostering a sense of responsibility for community well-being, to actively involve students in community-based projects, promoting hands-on learning experiences that contribute to the improvement of water and sanitation infrastructure, to encourage fellow students to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives, focusing on responsible water usage and waste reduction, to lead educational campaigns that inspire positive behavior change regarding water conservation and sanitation practices among student peers and within the wider community, and lastly to empower students as advocates for SDG 6, fostering a sense of leadership and responsibility in championing clean water and sanitation initiatives both within and beyond the campus.
Recognizing the pivotal role education plays in shaping futures, this project focus on students in grades 2 to 6. Through interactive sessions and the distribution of over 300 sanitary kits, this project not just only providing resources; but also instilling lifelong habits that promote health and dignity.
The impact of “Waves of Wellness” extends far beyond the tangible provisions of clean water and hygiene kits. It’s about igniting a sense of ownership and responsibility within our community. As individuals learn to safeguard their health, they become advocates for change, spreading ripples of knowledge and empowerment to those around them. Moreover, the project has fostered a renewed sense of unity and support, strengthening the fabric of our community as we work hand-in-hand towards a common goal.
