Abstract:

This study measured the effectiveness and adequacy of the business adaptations made by the Freight Forwarders situated in Parañaque City as response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The data were collected from 90 Accredited International Freight Forwarders which was derived from the website of the Department of Trade and Industry – Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (DTI- FTEB). Results showed that all business adaptations (Document Handling, Quote Delivery, Shipment Visibility, System integration, Flexible Work Arrangement, Workforce Mobility, Travel Restrictions, and Port Operation and Utilization) which were implemented during the pandemic were effective and adequate as a response to mitigate the disruptions on the global supply chain. Furthermore, it is also discovered that the topmost significant business adaptation is Document Handling, and the three best practices applied during pandemic are Document Handling followed by Flexible Work Arrangement and lastly, Workforce Mobility.
