The Transformation of Tourist Spots in Intramuros, Manila

Abstract:

The United Nations World Tourism Organization or UNWTO defined tourism as the fastest growing largest industry in the world today. In the year 2020, there is a surge that affected the tourism industry and that is the development of the dangerous virus COVID-19, which has caused a major loss of profits as well as serious health and economic difficulties worldwide. Intramuros, which is situated in Manila, is among the most popular destinations that tourists visit in the Philippines. Intramuros is derived from a Latin term that means “inside the walls”. This study will examine the transformation of the tourist spots in Intramuros, Manila in the New Normal. Including the strategies, innovations, approaches of the Intramuros Administration and the impacts of the regulations in the number of tourist arrivals in Intramuros, Manila.
