Skills Demand and Employment Opportunities at Hospitality Industry: A Proposed Input Plan for Target and National Certification Trainings

Abstract:
The primary objective of this descriptive type of research is to assess the skills demand and employment opportunities in the hospitality industry with an end view of proposing an input plan for target and national certification training. It presents the demographic profile of the respondents; the assessment of the respondents to the existing skills needed in the hospitality industry in terms of analytical competency, behavioral competency, communication skills, work attitude or values, and other basic competencies; the level of importance of national certification trainings in the employment opportunities. This study also determines the significant difference between the assessment of the respondents regarding their skills when the profile is considered. Google Forms was utilized in the conduct of the survey-questionnaire. Simple random sampling kept the number of respondents to a minimum. The data were tabulated and analyzed through statistical treatments such as Percentage frequency distribution, Median, Mode, Kruskal-Wallis H test. It is concluded and recommended that the researchers must study and investigate all about this topic to highly advocate the result of the input plan. Findings showed that the respondents are advanced in communication skills, work attitude or values, and other basic competencies. The study presented that National Certification Trainings can help in gaining practical skills for the job, and in increasing personal effectiveness. Moreover, it is proven that there is a significant difference in the assessment of respondents on their skills in terms of analytical competency, behavioral competency, communication skills, work attitudes or values, and other basic competencies when their profile is considered.
