As part of the Outcomes-based Education (OBE) transition that the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) mandated for all Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) has already done many trainings and workshops to prepare faculty members, syllabi and curriculum into OBE.
Recently, CHED, together with the European Union Support for Higher Education in the ASEAN Region (SHARE), The British Council, The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Campus France, The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), the European University Association (EUA) and The Organization for Internationalization in Education (EP:Nuffic), conducted the 3rd Workshop on the Impact of Qualifications Framework and Learning Outcomes on Higher Education on November 17 and 18 at the Makati Diamond Residences.
CHED Chair Dr. Patricia Licuanan provided the overview of the current state of Philippine Higher Education while Dr. Cynthia Bautista gave updates on the ASEAN Qualifications Referencing Framework. Several panel discussions focused on Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) interface with HEI, and National Qualifications Framework (NQF) of various developed countries. A workshop was conducted on writing learning outcomes, program outcomes and course/subject outcomes and the corresponding matrices that need to be aligned.
Representatives from LPU were Dr. Conrado E. Iňigo, Jr. (CHED Technical Panel), Ma. Christina G. Aquino (Technical Consultant, LPU) and Dr. Samuel Chua (Technical Consultant). LPU’s current outcomes will be refined using the learnings from this seminar.
