Bannering outcomes-based education for Journalism, Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Manila’s official student publication, the LPU Independent Sentinel, was recognized as Campus Paper of the Year in the first Gawad Inkstitution Awards at the Manila Bulletin Convention Hall on December 10, 2016.

The event was organized by the United Print Media Group (UPMG), an organization of major publications in the Philippines, recognizing student journalists and student publications from different schools in partnership with CreatiVilla.
The LPU Independent Sentinel is under the guidance of College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Mass Communication, Journalism, and Multimedia Arts Chair Becky Nieto-Litan, together with CAS Faculty Renalyn Valdez, Guillermo Santos, and Dr. Ronald Henson.
