With the weather bright and temperate, Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Manila opened its school year with a dual event on July 24 at the LPU Quadrangle. With Lyceans in attendance as a sea of red, the LPU community held the annual pep rally in honor of its athletes, the LPU Pirates, immediately after the traditional flag ceremony.

To open the program, LPU Central Student Government (LYCESGO) President John Patrick Sarsalejo of the College of International Relations (CIR) welcomed the LPU Community and introduced the rest of the lineup of LYCESGO Officers. After a dance mob-style performance from the LPU Dance Troupe, LPU Wildstyle Crew, LPU Chorale, and Tanghalang Batingaw together with leaders from the other LPU student organizations, the LPU Pep and Drum Squad fueled the fire of school pride as they led the entire community in the various cheers and yells.

Once the whole quadrangle was fired up, the different LPU Pirates sports teams were ushered into the venue by the roster of Miss LPU 2017 pageant contestants. Fresh from her recent win as 1st Runner-up of Miss Korea, LPU Manila CIR Senior Hanna Lee led the parade of LPU Pirates.
