CITHM Dean Represents LPU in the Hong Kong PolyU Inaugural World Summit

for Deans of Independent Schools of Hospitality and Tourism

More than 40 deans of leading Tourism and Hospitality schools attended the first-ever World Summit for Deans of Independent Schools of Hospitality and Tourism, hosted by the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management of the Hong Kong PolyU at Hotel ICON on  May 27-29, 2018. The Summit provided a unique platform for deans of 40 institutions from more than 20 countries and regions to share and discuss common issues and the future course of strategies to promote tourism and hospitality studies globally.

The Summit featured four meeting sessions in which LPU-CITHM Dean Dr. Lilibeth Aragon was joined by Dr. Chris Bottrill, Immediate Past Dean, Faculty of Global and Community Studies, Capilano University, Canada and Professor Patrick J. Moreo, Dean, College of Hospitality & Tourism Leadership, University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, USA, as they shared their experiences and best practices, specifically on the topic of  Industry Partnerships and Student Development, which was chaired by Dr. Tony Tse, SHTM Professor of Practice (Industry Partnerships).

Other equally important sessions were Academic Programmes for Quality of Teaching and Learning, Research Productivity and Administration, Internationalization and International Collaborations.

Another highlight of the Summit was the Group Discussion Session entitled Top 3 Priority Strategies for Hospitality and Tourism Schools Collectively in the Next 10 Years chaired by Dean Kaye Chon.

This pioneering milestone was organized by Events Management Classes of Hong Kong PolyU. “Always an innovator, the SHTM considers it vital to provide a unique platform on which all deans of independent schools of hospitality and tourism can convene to discuss, explore and share their perspectives, insights and experiences with the aim of promoting further collaboration and advancing development in the higher education arena,” said Dean Kaye Chon.
