LPU Les Jeunes Chef Wins Manila's Best Organization Award

Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Manila’s reigning Best College-based Organization Les Jeunes Chef (LJC) brought home the trophy for the first-ever Sinag ng Maynila Most Outstanding Youth Organization as Best College Organization (Private Sector). In celebration of the 445th Foundation Anniversary of the City of Manila, the premiere Sinag ng Maynila Awards were held at the Bulwagang Gat Andres Villegas of the Manila City Hall on June 23.

The pride of the College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management (CITHM), the LJC bested 31 other youth organizations to claim the top spot in the Private Category of College Organizations. Aside from Les Jeunes Chef, seven other organizations took home top honors, representing their respective districts in the City of Manila, as well as the top college organization for the public category.

 

Presented by Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada, Sinag ng Maynila is an award given to outstanding youth organizations in the City of Manila that have made significant contributions in their communities through programs and projects, promoting volunteerism, leadership, and responsible citizenry. Winners of the 1st Sinag ng Maynila each received a trophy and a cash prize of Php 50,000.

Present to receive the prestigious award were Former LJC President Marc Christian Chua Sy, Incoming LJC President Leroy Borrega, LJC Adviser Chef Joel Tanjimenez, LJC VP for External Affairs Noryel Taperla, and LJC VP for Internal Affairs Lacel Gem Jacob.

 

As LPU’s reigning Best College-based Organization for two straight years, the LJC won the first-ever Sinag ng Maynila because of a holistic approach and drive for excellence. The team focused on their function as the official caterer of the university, strove for continual improvement with in-house competitions, and exhibited outcomes-based education through an endless array of awards and championships won in both local and international competitions.
