As one of the country’s leading educational institutions for International Relations and Foreign Service, Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Manila College of International Relations (CIR) produced its fourth Foreign Service Officer (FSO) in the past four years. Foreign Service Class of 2011 Alumna Monica Remsy Calangian ranked 11th out of the 29 total passers of the Foreign Service Officer Examination (FSOE) administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs Board of Foreign Service Examinations from August 16, 2015 to August 12, 2016.
Calangian is LPU’s fourth FSOE Passer since 2013. Previous Lycean FSOs include LV de Guzman (2013), Paolo Zurita (2014), and JJ Domingo (2015).
The year-long examination is made up of five stages: The Civil Service Examination for Foreign Service Officers (CSE-FSO), The Preliminary Interview, The Written Test, The Psychological Test, and the Oral Test. Each of the sections of this examination gauntlet is a prerequisite for the next, and fewer examinees take each succeeding examination.
Along with the 29 other passers, Calangian will be recommended by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs for appointment by the President as Foreign Service Officer, Class IV.
