LPU Women’s Volleyball starts NCAA journey, defeats Letran

 

Displaying Excellence even in the field of Sports, Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Pirates Women’s Volleyball team began the 92nd National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Volleyball tournament by beating Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights, 21-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-22, 15-10, at the Filoil Flying V Centre at San Juan City.

Lady Pirates’ Cherilyn Jhane Sindayen scored 24 points for her team, while Czarina Pauline Orros was contributed 14 points to lead the LPU to its first win.

However, Letran did not go down without a fight. The Knights’ Mikaela Lopez and Jan Juno Leal Carreon, with 12 and 10 points, respectively, kept the scores of all sets close.

“First game namin, hindi pa sila adjusted sa court, at the same time yung movement nila, hindi talaga yung normal na game lang yun. And then mabuti, the last part nung game, naka-recover sila,(It’s our first game, and they still haven’t adjusted to the playing conditions. It’s a good thing they were able to recover in the end)” said LPU Volleyball Coach Emil Lontoc about the Lady Pirates.
