“SENAKULO” Passion of Christ

In observance of the Lenten season, the Arts and Cultural Affairs Department showcased a stage play featuring Cainta Nazareno, Inc., a passion play theater group from Cainta, Rizal.

On April 4, 2019, a cast and crew of roughly 65 members, complete with costumes and stage props, came to LPU for the passion play. The show started with its first scene (Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane) at the Mabini Hall. The first scene had caught the interest of students and admin staff so well that they followed the cast to the JPL Hall of Freedom for the second and third scenes (Scourging at the Pillar and Carrying of the Cross). Witnessed by students, faculty, and non-teaching staff, Cainta Nazareno, Inc. received warm applause for its theatrical presentation of Passion of Christ. This only shows that Senakulo may be on the wane but it is far from vanishing.
