LPU, Intramuros Administration ink MOU

The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) headed by its President, Atty. Roberto P. Laurel and Intramuros Administration (IA) represented by Administrator Atty. Joan Padilla forged a Memorandum of Understanding at the Bayleaf Intramuros today, May 9, 2023.

Both parties recognize the need for strong collaboration in the restoration and development of Intramuros through the implementation of projects to be initiated by LPU’s National Service Training Program-Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-SWTS) and Community Outreach and Service Learning (COSeL) Office.

LPU and IA believe that Intramuros, as a living heritage, must be given more prominence as a center not only for cultural but for educational and development exchanges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 as well. Not only will people who enter the walls be provided centuries -old firsthand experiences of the glorious past but also to experience it with the integration of contemporary relevance.

The event was attended by LPU officials and staff namely: OIC for Academic Affairs Jennifer D. Tucpi, HRD Director Judith Imperial, CITHM Dean Dr. Lilibeth Aragon, GSC Dean Dr. Samuel Chua, CIR Dean Ambassador Maria Bugarin, CPD Director Sandra Recto, SAO OIC Dean Dr. Bethzaida Dela Cruz, SHL-ARC Chief Librarian Mark Edzel Gonzales, Special Projects Officer Roberta Beatrice Laurel, COSeL Director Leonora Astete, NSTP Coordinator Reyman Gapas, Community Program Officer Yuri Domingo, and Administrative Assistant Marilou Solano.

Officials and staff from IA were: OIC -Urban Planning and Community Development Division Jeffrey Yap, Executive Assistant Head Vanessa Rodriguez, Chief Tourism Promotions Division Sandra Martinez, Senior Tourism Officer John Arcilla, Justine Delos Reyes, Kyle Nava, and Janelle Gabriel.

The initial project entitled “Adopt-a Park Project” will be launched at the Puerto del Parian on May 13, 4:00 PM-5:00 PM.
