Schedule of College Entrance Test (CET): For A.Y. 2012 - 2013, Application is now on-going and upon submission of requirements your schedule will be given to you. Examinations started November 2011 until May 2012.

The Research and Publications Center (RPC) is now accepting research proposals for Second Semester AY 2011-2012.  Researchers should fill out Forms 1, 2 and 3 and submit them to RPC not later than November 4, 2011. You may request soft and hard copies of Forms 1, 2 and 3 from the RPC staff.

Graduate Tracer Study Nearing Completion

Researchers for the Graduate Tracer Study (GTS) had recently submitted their research report marking the near completion of the project. The GTS is an institutional research project headed by the Registrar Ms. Jennifer Tucpi participated in by all colleges including the Graduate School. The Researchers involved in this study are Ms. Joanne Porillo (College of Arts and Sciences), Mr. Allan Rodriguez (College of Business Administration), Dean Samuel Chua (College of Computer Science), Ms. Gladys P. Nalangan (College of International Relations), Ms. Marie Yulo (College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management), Mr. Ambrocio Enriquez (College of Engineering), Mr. Kenn Lachenal (College of Nursing) and Ms. Veronica Uy (Graduate School). A total of 915 LPU graduates participated in the survey. The objectives of the study are a) to determine the profile of the LPU graduate, in terms of their socio-demographic characteristics, employment status, and professional success; b) to determine the relevance of LPU academic programs; c) to provide feedback mechanism on the relationship between academic program and employment; d) to find out areas for improvement in LPU’s delivery of educational services; and e) to serve as a management tool for program evaluation.

LPU Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) subscribes to Thomson Innovation

LPU President Atty. Roberto P. Laurel approved the subscription to Thomson Innovation ®, a web-based patent and non-patent literature resource. The objectives of the subscription to Thomson Innovation are a) to enable the ITSOs to provide reliable and quality patent search results; b) to facilitate the conduct of patent search; and c) to make the ITSOs efficient and effective in conducting patent search. The LPU-ITSO is composed of Manager Dr. Victorina H. Zosa, Marketing Officer Ms. Rosemarie Arhlene Ampil, and Technical Experts Dean Samuel Chua, Ms. Gladys P. Nalangan and Mr. Ephraim Patrick T. Batungbacal. They are currently undertaking on-the-job training with Intellectual Property Office Philippines using Thomson Innovation.

RPC Attends Ateneo Center for Asian Studies (ACAS) Conference

Executive Director Dr. Victorina H. Zosa, Director Rosemarie Arhlene Ampil, and Senior Faculty Researchers Gladys P. Nalangan and Ephraim Patrick T. Batungbacal, all from the Research and Publications Center,  attended the “12th Korea Forum: Korean Perceptions of ASEAN, China, and the Philippines” sponsored by the ACAS held last August 26, 2011 at the Ateneo de Manila University.  Dr. Lee Jaehyon discussed the ASEAN-Korea Strategic Cooperation Partnership. Dr. Han Intack discussed Korean relationship between China and the United States (e.g. balancing, bandwagoning and hedging). Dr. Park Bun-Soon compared Korea’s official development assistance (ODA) model with Japan. Dr. Cheong Inkyo stressed that Free Trade Areas (FTAs) should be comprehensive with quality market access as a very important pillar. Dr. Kim Dong-Yeob presented his research on the View of Filipinos towards Koreans. Each presenter has counterpart discussants from the faculty of Ateneo de Manila University.

Workshop on Effective Management of Innovation and  Technology Support Office (ITSO) held at Subic

The Workshop on the Effective Management of ITSOs/Patent Libraries (Part II) was held last August 15 - 16, 2011 at the Subic Bay Yacht Club. The workshop was organized by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) under the European Union funded Trade-Related Technical Assistance (TRTA) II. Ms. Audrey Yap Su Ming and Mr. Chiew Yu Sarn, Registered Patent Agents from Singapore, facilitated the workshop.  Ms. Yap reviewed members of the ITSO Luzon Group of the rationale of the Philippine Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) and presented the proposed vision and mission. She discussed the benefits of ITSO franchise and presented the proposed ITSO Brand Franchise Operations Manual. Mr. Yarn facilitated the group workshops.  The ITSO project will be launched in November 2011 in a ceremony to be attended by President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III at Malacanang.
