As part of their ongoing mission to present intellectual and aesthetically challenging programs to its stakeholders, Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Manila Arts and Cultural Affairs Department (ACA) recently showcased a two-day program of activities promoting Italian culture.

On November 17, the LPU Senior High School (SHS) students attended a forum on Italian Creativity and Design at the Jose P. Laurel Hall of Freedom. After the opening and welcome by LPU SHS Principal Clarence Ella Alipio, Societa Dante Alighieri Chairman Alessandro Iellamo gave a short overview on Italian Cultural Programs in the Philippines. LPU ACA Director Robert Hayden Jr. then introduced the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines President Sergio Boero who delivered the talk How Leading Companies Manage Design (Fashion) in Business. This was immediately followed by two separate discussions: Fashion and Made in Italy (sic), as well as The Brands, the Designers, and Their Inspiration: Communicating Fashion, both by TAN GAN Fashion Brand Assistant Art Director Luca Bombeccari.
Then, on November 24, LPU ACA invited chefs to facilitate the Italian Cuisine Master Classes on Pasta, Pizza and Wine & Cheese pairing at the LPU Culinary Institute. Presenting The Extraordinary Taste of Italy to the LPU Community were Chefs Margarita Forés, Carla Brigliadori, Angelo Comsti, Antonio Saba, and Sommelier Paolo Nesi.
Presented in coordination with Societa Dante Alighieri and the Embassy of Italy, the master class included a cooking demonstration, a Pasta and Pizza-making presentation, and a wine and cheese pairing seminar.
